PEMBERIAN MAKANAN SELINGAN IPOEMOEA BATATAS L.TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR GULA DARAH PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS

Meal Planning is a one of primary pillar for management diabetics disease. The main thing to choose interlude meal is must rich of fiber, have protein and carbohydrate and low of calories. Sweet potato able to be alternative of interlude meal for diabetics patient because the complex of carbohydrate can reserve slowly from digestive, so blood sugar level is not too quickly to high after eats. The purpose of this research is to measure the blood sugar level of diabetics patiens before and after giving sweet potato for analysis effect of giving interlude meal with sweet potato to reduction blood sugar level of diabetics patient.

The research design was use pra experimental with before and after test in one group. The population in this research is all of diabetics patients in RW IV Bulak District Bulak Subdistrict Surabaya is 15 peoples. Whereas sample taken was use total random sampling method. After that the datum was analysis by Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test with grade sense α ≤ 0,05. This research result shows as 11 peoples of respondent (73.33%) to experience reduction of blood sugar level. There is any significant effect between giving interlude meal with sweet potato (Ipoemoea batatas L.)is to reduction the blood sugar level (p = 0,02 ≤ 0,05). Based on this research we able to summary that any effect of giving interlude meal with sweet potato to reduction blood sugar level. Because of that we need to do a good meal planning and arrange to increase control of blood sugar level.
